Rencontres Internationales Paris Berlin 2021 – Dario Quaranta Neropop

Video + synopsis

Dada Bodybuilder (Hugo Ball remix) | Video

Dada Bodybuilder (Hugo Ball remix) is a pop tribute to the poet and film director Hugo Ball and to Dadaism (historical avant-garde art movement which developed between 1916 and 1920).

The video is inspired by an original voice recording of Hugo Ball himself, captured during one of his performances at Cabaret Voltaire (a nightclub he ran with his partner, the artist Emmy Hennings).

The occasion is 1916, the beginning of the Dada movement of which Hugo Ball was a key exponent (apparently he was the one who came up with the name “Dada”, almost by chance, while looking in a German-French dictionary).

The sound fragment, only a few seconds long, has been remixed with audio editing software to produce the soundtrack for the video.

Dada Bodybuilder ( is part of a web project of the same name, as well as a Facebook group (under construction).
